Sometimes, what we want doesn’t happen. This can actually be good for us. It’s like life is saying, “Hey, take another look at what you really need or want.”
When we don’t get what we wish for, it’s a chance to think about what’s really important to us. Do we want things that make us happy for a little while, or do we want things that make us happy for a long time? Do we want things because there are certain expectations that this has to be the next step? Do we want things because we believe society has predetermined tracks for us to follow?
Not getting what we want can help us see things more clearly. It’s like taking off sunglasses and seeing the real colours. We might get shocked by the sun temporarily, but our eyes adapt, and we learn what’s really special to us.
When things don’t go our way, we grow. We learn new things, try new stuff, and find out we’re stronger than we thought. And sometimes, we find a better way that makes us happier than our first plan.
It’s hard to understand when we’re sad about not getting something. But later, we might see that it was for the best.
The best things in life might be surprises that we find while we’re looking for something else.
